  • What does it take to be a JROTC cadet?

Being a JROTC cadet requires participation, motivation, and dedication. One must participate to learn, if one doesn't participate he or she will never learn their weaknesses and strenghts, where to improve. Also, without motivation one wont have the oppurtunity to grow, as not only a leader, or citizen, but as a better person. Now, one most importantly must have dedication, your peers and instructors can meet you half way; show you the right path but its up to you to be dedicated to follow that path. 
No one is perfect, we all strive to be the best we can be, this program will help you get there.

 

  • Does being in JROTC mean you're going into the military?

Though the JROTC program is funded by the government there is absolutely no obligation to join any of The Armed Forces. However, if you do choose to follow a career in the military, JROTC gives you mental, physical, and knowledge based advantages.

  • Does JROTC help students go to college?

Yes, the JROTC program does help students go to college by instilling leadership and discipline in every cadet enlisted. We hold our cadets to high expectations. Cadets are given responsibilities in which they must uphold, such as high grades, wearing their uniform each week, and participating in service learning projects. Such responsibilites not only teach cadets discipline, but the neccesary skills needed to survive in college. Additionally, to these many attributes, each cadet has the opportunity to acquire scholarships which may reach up to $60,000.

 

  • Why are cadets required to wear uniforms?

Cadets wear uniforms to promote responsibility, discipline, and confidence. When a cadet wears the JROTC uniform whats expected of them has risen not only by fellow cadets, and school faculty, but him or herself. Cadets are required to wear their uniform once a week and to wear it with pride.

  • Who teaches JROTC?

The JROTC curriculum is taught by both a Senior Army Instructor (SAI) and an Army Instructor (AI). The SAI is an Officer and the AI is a Non-Commisioned Officer (NCO), both of which are retired active duty in The United States Army.

  • How does one join the program?

Joining the program is as simple as selecting JROTC as an elective, it doesnt matter if its your senior year or your freshamn year, anyone can join. If you have any further questions contact MAJ Haigler or SGM Sampson.
